These events will take place every Tuesday between 4pm and 5pm, with the exception of the primary network meeting which is a termly meeting on a Wednesday 4pm – 5:30pm.

8 September 2020Mental Maths in KS1
This session will focus on key calculation strategies for developing mental fluency at KS1 which is essential to be ready to progress to formal calculation.

This session will focus on key calculation strategies for developing mental fluency at KS2. Pupils are truly fluent when they can make informed decisions about how they calculate .
22 September 2020Using double sided counters in KS1 and 2
Double sided counters are such a useful resource in the primary classroom. We will explore activities that use them from reception to year 6; number bonds to ratio.
29 September 2020Exploring number bonds in KS1
Having a recall of number bonds within 20 is key to developing calculation in the year 2 and beyond. We will explore how these bonds can be developed using number frames and manipulatives
6 October 2020Negative numbers in KS2
Negative numbers are a tricky part of the mathematics curriculum. This session explores how manipulatives can be used to develop conceptual understanding.
13 October 2020Using Numicon as a problem solving tool in KS2
Numicon is a great tool for calculating but this session explores how Numicon be used as a tool for problem solving particularly for KS2.
20 October 2020Introduction to Bar Modelling in Y1 – 4
Bar modelling is a great tool to expose the structure of mathematics. This session is an introduction to bar modelling starting in reception/year 1 through additive and multiplicative structures as well as fractions.
25 November 2020Primary maths network meeting – autumn term
This termly network meeting is a great one stop shop to find out what is happening in the world of primary maths, In the autumn term we will be exploring the DfE guidance papers and ready to progress criteria, revised EYs curriculum as well as latest resources and developments.

The charge for each session is for one or two teachers viewing the same laptop. Once registered, you will be sent the Zoom link and password.

If you would like all, or a number of your staff attend a session, that’s not a problem; just contact me for costs.

Alternatively you may want your school to be invoiced. Please email me and I am more than happy to arrange this.

The boring but necessary bit: Cancellation policy:

Cancellation of bookings for on-line sessions will incur the following charges:

  • More than 5 working days before the start of the event – full refund
  • 5 working days or less before the start of the event – no refund
  • Non-attendance without cancellation – no refund

Inspiring Maths Education reserve the right to cancel any course/programme if there are insufficient numbers to make it viable or in the unlikely event that the event lead becomes unavailable due to circumstances beyond her control. In such circumstances you will be given as much notice as possible and the offer of a free transfer to another session date, or a full refund of fees paid.
